Williamstown Road Truck Curfew Highlights Lack of Government Road Freight Planning

The announcement by the Victorian Government that it will impose a night-time and weekend No-Truck Zone on Williamstown Road draws into stark relief the lack of action to upgrade important feeder freight routes vital to productive access to the Port of Melbourne for containerised freight.

The container transport sector is calling on the Government to immediately act on recommendations it has been sitting on for over four years to upgrade road infrastructure in Melbourne’s inner west so that freight efficiency & productivity is not fatally compromised.
