Safe Container Loading & Transport

Unbalanced, mis-declared or inadequately restrained loads inside shipping containers present real safety dangers across the container transport logistics chain.

Improperly loaded containers can cause commercial & reputational loss, injury, in some cases death, as well as legal prosecution.

Heavy vehicle accident data in Australia (compiled by NTI) shows that container-laden heavy vehicles are 36% more likely to be involved in a truck rollover compared to vehicles carrying general freight. These incidents can be caused by unbalanced weight inside the container, a high centre of gravity of the load, or load-shift.

The same dangers exist for safe vessel operations, container terminal handling, rail operations, and the safety of persons loading and unloading goods from shipping containers.

It’s important for everyone in the chain to know their obligations in keeping everyone safe.
