The West Gate Tunnel Project (WGTP) has given advanced notice to CTAA that it plans to close Footscray Road at Shepherd Bridge in both directions from 8pm Friday 14 April to 5:30am Monday morning 17 April.
This is so that WGTP crews can remove an overhead gantry sign, allowing for the delivery of an oversized steel girder to site, and then the reinstallation of the gantry constructing the elevated roadway over the Maribyrnong River.
Unfortunately, the planned heavy vehicle detour route to/from the West doesn’t accommodate heavy vehicle operating above 68.5 tonnes GVM (see detour map). This is due to the weight restrictions on the Hopetoun Bridge on Dynon Road crossing the Maribyrnong River.
