Port of Melbourne 2055 Port Development Strategy

Port of Melbourne Development Slide

The Port of Melbourne has released its Draft 2055 Port Development Strategy (PDS) for public consultation.

It’s a refresh of the Port’s 2050 Strategy and is important in mapping out the challenges facing the Port as trade volumes grow.  For the container trades, the forecasts are for throughput to rise from the existing 3.3 million TEU in 2024 to 3.92 million by 2030; 4.43 million by 2035; 4.98 million by 2040 and around 7.11 million by 2055.

The focus of CTAA in consultations with Port of Melbourne to date have been on the landside logistics challenges, both road and rail access, productive freight vehicle use, and freight efficiency.

CTAA Alliance companies are being urged to participate in further stakeholder engagement being organised by the Port, and we will lodge further views in writing.
